WHO/Europe has been holding annual influenza surveillance meetings jointly with the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) since 2011. This meeting brings together epidemiologists and virologists – the national influenza surveillance focal points – from 50 Member States to discuss national, regional and global surveillance related to seasonal influenza and novel influenza viruses, such as avian influenza A(H7N9).
On 6th of June 2014 the Albanian NGO “STOP AIDS” conducted a consultative meeting about the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) of Infective Agents in Albania.
The aim of the meeting was to identify the priorities and the steps to be followed in order to building up a Program on PMCT of Infective Agents in Albania
Within the framework of the Project “Surveillance and Response to Avian and pandemic Influenza by National Health Authorities of Countries of South East Europe”, the supervision of influenza sentinel sites was carried out in Montenegro.
This activity took place from 27 May to 5 June 2014, in different health care institutions in Montenegro, such as: General Hospitals; Special Hospital for Pulmonary Diseases and Tuberculosis; Clinical Centre of Montenegro; Primary Health Care Centers.
“Annual Influenza Meeting of Vet and IPH” took place on the 7th June 2014 in the Korca, Albania, within the framework of the “Surveillance and Response to Avian and pandemic Influenza by National Health Authorities of Countries of South East Europe” Project.
