On the 27th of January 2015, Dr Nina Rodic Vukmir, Influenza Manager in the Republic of Srpska (BiH), visited East Sarajevo General Hospital and held a meeting with a hospital management team as well as with the Head of the Departments and Chief Nurses.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss about influenza surveillance, to give an update on the current season data in Europe and circulating viruses, encountered obstacles in every day work, sampling and other. One of the main topics was adherence to the SARI case definition and how to differentiate it from other conditions.
After this meeting, Influenza Manager together with a pulmologist visited Pulmology Department and took a sample from one patient that have met SARI criteria.
Participants of the meeting agreed that it is important to continue to communicate with a same intensity and that it is very useful to share the information about influenza season in Europe and new recommendations on the regular basis.
