The South East European Centre for Surveillance and Control of Infectious Diseases (SECID-SEEHN), has organized a Meeting with Countries of South East Europe (SEE) on 20-21st November 2014, in Tirana, Albania. WHO EURO also participated in the meeting.
The aim of this meeting was to overview the results of the influenza activities related to the Project “Surveillance and Response to Avian and Pandemic Influenza”, funded by Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta, USA under the Grant Nr. 5U51IP000841-02.
The objectives of the meeting were:
- Evaluate achievements and challenges to establish sentinel surveillance or strengthen influenza surveillance in countries of South East Europe (SEE);
- Finalize the plan for the activities related to improvement of influenza sentinel surveillance laboratory capacities and preparedness described in the second year of the project for see countries;
- Establish success indicators and a platform to integrate them with the other influenza initiatives.
