Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) of Infective Agents in Albania

Consultative Meeting, 6 June 2014

On 6th of June 2014 the Albanian NGO “STOP AIDS” conducted a consultative meeting about the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (PMTCT) of Infective Agents in Albania.

The aim of the meeting was to identify the priorities and the steps to be followed in order to building up a Program on PMCT of Infective Agents in Albania

The consultative meeting took place in Rogner Hotel in Tirana and was supported by UNFPA. It was developed under the technical attention of Institute of Public Health. SECID assisted in the organizing process; a preliminary meeting of the working group to draft the programme and determine the participants has been organized in SECID offices.

In the meeting of 6th June clinicians of infectious diseases and specialists of IPH presented the situation of infective agents in Albania, the problems and the challenges to be overcome. They exposed the recommended interventions that should be offered. Then discussions in two separate working groups have been developed.

Based on the findings of working groups a short term plan including the actions needed to be taken for PMCT of Infective Agents in Albania has been drafted.
