On 18th and 19th of March 2014 in the National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo* in Pristina, took place the Sentinel ILI/SARI Training Workshop, within the framework of the “Surveillance and Response to Avian and pandemic Influenza by National Health Authorities of Countries of South East Europe” Project.
The participants of the workshop were epidemiologists, infectious disease specialists, pediatricians, family doctors, pulmonologists and microbiologists, 31 in total. Influenza epidemiological situation in Kosovo*, the importance of reporting in time and the importance of early detection of cases were discussed at the beginning of the workshop.
Afterwards, the manuals ILI and SARI as well as the methods for reporting, data gathering and sample collection were presented. The laboratory guidelines were also discussed. At the end it was straighten out the meaning of sentinel centers, the criteria for their selection and their obligations as well.
During the second day of the workshop the clinicians discussed about the treatments for cases.
