On 22 July 2020, South East European Center for Infectious Disease (SECID) and the Member States of the South Eastern Europe Health Network (SEEHN) organized SARI ILI Surveillance Annual Meeting Teleconference via Zoom Meeting.
The meeting brought together technical partners, critical stakeholders and the SEEHN secretariat. In addition to Member States representatives from eight countries, the meeting was also joined by: Pamela Kennedy from CDC, USA, Richard Pebody from WHO Euro and Pati Penttinen from ECDC.
The aim of the meeting was to present the functioning and challenges of SARI and ILI Sentinel Surveillance implementation in SEE countries, and how these systems can be strengthened to face uncertainty and other challenges for the next Influenza Season and COVID-19.
The specific objectives of the meeting were to:
- Describe the current country ILI and SARI sentinel surveillance systems and their functioning;
- Discuss the current operational challenges of ILI and SARI sentinel surveillance and the future ones;
