The South East European Centre for Surveillance and Control of Infectious Diseases - SECID, in collaboration with Task Force for Global Health, Centers of Disease Control, Partnership for Influenza Vaccine Introduction and South East European Health Network Secretariat convening has organised the Meeting of South East European (SEE) countries to establish regional expert group on immunization, 25-26 June 2019, Skopje, North Macedonia.
The aim of the meeting was to discuss the concept of establishing SEE – Regional Expert Working Group on Immunization and its functions, to improve the regional capacities, to make informed evidence-based decision making on immunization.
Discussions emphasize the importance of establishing a regional working group on immunization to pool all country resources and capacities. The RWG will serve as a forum for discussions on how to make or improve countries NITAG or other experts recommendations based on their similar health and immunization systems and sometimes similar epidemiology and resources by sharing experiences, documentations and lessons learned.
Expert from National Immunization Technical Advisory Group, Immunization manager ,epidemiologist working on vaccine preventable diseases from all SEE countries and Representatives of World Health Organisation has given their contribute to the outcomes of this meeting.
Back to back with this meeting was held the workshop on Current Measles Outbreaks and Response Challenges in SEE Countries. During this workshop, all SEE countries have presented characteristics of measles outbreaks in their country the current challenges to mount an effective response.
