CDC/Task Force Visit to Tirana, Albania and Skopje, Macedonia May 21-29, 2018

 

 

 

 

 

In the framework of the PIVI Program (Partnership for Influenza Vaccine Introduction) a division from CDC/Task Force visited Tirana, Albania and Skopje, Macedonia from May 21-28, 2018.  

On May 21-24, 2018 took place the meeting on Institute of Public Health, Tirana, with representatives from SECID and Institute of Public Health.

The main objectives of the meeting were:

  • To provide technical assistance for ongoing KAP study in pregnant women and healthcare workers of pregnant women.
    1. Examine database
    2. Generate analysis plan
    3. Create shell tables/figures for manuscript.
  • Review FLU tool pilot report, and identify key findings from Albanian perspective for manuscript development.
  • Discuss the Influenza vaccination program in Albania
  • Assist in completing a multi-year sustainability plan.
    1. Engage appropriate stakeholders in sustainability planning
  • Discuss and decide on priority projects for the SECID region for FY 18-19.

On 25 May 2018 the meeting was held in Ministry of Health and Welfare and there were representatives from MOH, IPH, Ministry of Finance, SECID, WHO Country Office, and UNICEF.

The Objectives of the meeting:

  • Discuss the Influenza vaccination program in Albania including multi - year implementation plan;
  • Assist in completing a multi-year sustainability plan.
  • Engage appropriate stakeholders in sustainability planning

On 28 May 2018 CDC/Task Force traveled to Skopje, Macedonia, to meet with IPH & MoH Representatives, Communicable Diseases Committee and WHO Office in Skopje and UNICEF representatives.

The objectives of the meeting were:

  • Present PIVI to the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders in the Republic of Macedonia
  • Discuss Influenza vaccination policy and further plans in the Republic of Macedonia
  • Engage the Ministry of health in Macedonia, and discuss the possibility of PIVI support (vaccine and technical assistance) in country for FY 18-19
  • Identify the appropriate stakeholders of influenza vaccination and their role in preparation of a multi-year sustainability plan.
