In the framework of the fifth year of the implementation of the Project “Surveillance and Response to Avian and Pandemic Influenza”, funded by Center of Disease Control Prevention (CDC), on 12 February 2018, in Tirana, was organized a meeting regarding Revision of Pandemic Influenza plan. As our circumstances are in constant flux: the world population is growing, mobility is increasing, and our habits are changing, we may be unable to predict the place and time of a new pandemic outbreak, nor its characteristics (spreading rate, severity). To define the measures necessary in case of a pandemic and to contribute as efficiently as possible to its control , “Influenza Pandemic Plan” is being revised and updated to reflect the latest scientific findings, the available prevention and treatment options, statutory foundations, existing decision-making and coordination structures as well as expert opinions.
This updated of the Influenza Pandemic Plan builds on work done previously. The changes involve among other issues, surveillance and control of hospital infection, protocol of prevention, avian influenza, vaccination, risk communication, treatment and management of cases.
