A Workshop on Midterm Seasonal Influenza Surveillance Evaluation in South Eastern European Countries, took place in Belgrade Serbia, on 11 December 2017The overall aim of the workshop was to analyse the current status of influenza surveillance evaluation and the challenges and opportunities related to it in all countries of South Eastern Europe to improve the surveillance evaluation process.
The specific objectives of the meeting were to:
- Present the progress on evaluation of national influenza surveillance systems in countries of South Eastern Europe;
- Analyse and address the challenges countries are facing during the surveillance evaluation process;
- Discuss the challenges and benefits of mentoring program and how to improve it;
- Discuss common steps to improve influenza sentinel surveillance evaluation process.
This workshop was organized by World Health Organization, Regional Office for Europe in collaboration with the South East European Centre for Surveillance and Control of Infectious Diseases (SECID) at the Institute of Public Health, Tirana, Albania. The meeting was attended by around 35 participants involved in influenza surveillance evaluation process, representatives from SECID, and staff members from the WHO Regional and Country Offices and representative from CDC, USA.
