On 16 November 2017 a workshop took place in Tirana, Albania. This workshop was organized in collaboration with Robert Koch Institute and Department of Infectious Diseases in Institute of Public Health Albania, with the facilitation of South East European Center for Surveillance and Control of Infectious Diseases (SECID). The general aim of workshop was to present the new case definitions and to test them in the current Albanian situation. The meeting was attended by 25 participants, including epidemiologists from IPH and districts, selected infectious diseases specialists, microbiologists, virologists and pediatricians.
The main objectives of the workshop:
- Discuss the current changes in new case definitions
- Evaluate the adaption of EU case definition in the new Albanian case definition
- Discuss how different case definition used by WHO or other countries helped shaping case definition in Albania
- Discuss and test the new case definitions in Albanian situation and the ways to modify them
