National workshop ARI, ILI / SARI surveillance, in Romania, 19-20 October 2017

In the framework of the fifth year implementation of the Project ‘Surveillance and response to avian and pandemic influenza’, funded by Center of Disease Control Prevention (CDC), the National Institute of Public Health (INSP), Romania- The National Centre for Communicable Diseases Surveillance and Control, in collaboration with INC, Cantacuzino’ and ARPS (Romanian Health Promotion Association), organized a national workshop, on 19-20 October 2017. The theme of the workshop was “The results of ARI, ILI, SARI Surveillance in 2016-2017 season and releasing the methodology of ARI, ILI and SARI Surveillance for 2017-2018 season.

There were 77 participants which attended the meeting, including lectures, medical epidemiologists who worked in sentinel county public health authorities, hospital epidemiologists and clinicians involved in SARI surveillance and family doctors involved in ARI and ILI surveillance.

As in the previous years, this national workshop represented a good opportunity to rise awareness about important issues related to influenza, but also to other important public health issues, like poliomyelitis, chikungunya, malaria.
