At the Institute of Public Health of Kosovo* on July 2017 was held a meeting with sentinel doctors, epidemiologists, infectologists and veterinary specialists, aiming to update the strategy for Influenza Pandemic. This activity is organised in the framework of the fourth year of the project “Surveillance and Response to Avian and Pandemic Influenza”, funded by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC),Atlanta USA. During the meeting, tasks for Avian Inluenza Action Plan according to the specific professions (epidemiologist, Veterinarian, Infective diseases, MoH) have been assigned. The compilation of Influenza Action Plan is still in process.
Training on surveillance system and outbreak response was also organized in order to strengthen influenza surveillance, coordination of case management between relevant institutions and sentinel sites, management of surveillance data and reporting system. The training was focused on the importance of timely reporting, the problems during the recent season and the sentinel needs. The epidemiological situation, virus characteristics during the recent season in Kosovo by comparing with other countries was also discussed.
