VECTORNET FIELDWORK in Albania and Kosovo*

In the framework of «European network for sharing data on the geographic distribution of arthropod vectors, transmitting human and animal disease agents» (with acronym VECTORNET) project,  field activities have been conducted in Albania and Kosovo. The aim of these activities was to fill gaps at selected places according to gap analysis (validating model outputs):

• For invasive mosquito species (IMS), Anopheles spp, Cx. modestus, Cx. perexiguus and Cx. tritaeniorhynchus

• Define the southern and altitudinal distribution limit of Cx. torrentium

• Define the northern and altitudinal distribution limit of Cx. tritaeniorhynchus, An. superpictus

• Promote and support local implementation of mosquito surveillance at suitable habitats.

The above activities are jointly funded by EFSA, (the European Food Safety Authority) and ECDC(the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control) and implemented by Avia-GIS, a privately owned SME,  and SECID(Southern European Center for Surveillance and Control of Infectious Diseases).
