Institute of Public Health of Serbia ’’Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut’’ on 31May 2017 organized Annual Influenza Meeting of Vet and IPH to discuss influenza surveillance in humans and animals as well as to point out the importance of multi sectorial collaboration in terms to assessment of influenza activities, with coordinators and deputy coordinators for influenza, veterinarians and infectiologists.
Deputy director of Institute of Public Health of Serbia, welcomed all participants and pointed out the importance of influenza surveillance and the role of the Republic of Serbia in the SEE network and “Surveillance and Response to Avian and Pandemic Influenza” project.
At the meeting participated representatives of health and veterinary institutes , laboratories, clinics, from all over the country as well from Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Ministry of Health.
The following topics and presentations were discussed:
-Plan epidemiological surveillance and the procedures carried out by the veterinary services in the case of avian influenza in Serbia;
-The current epizootiological situation of avian influenza in Europe: suggestion of monitoring;
-Influenza and International Health Regulations/IHR in Serbia;
-Virological surveillance of influenzaduring the Season 2016/2017 and preparation of NIC Serbia for the emergence of pandemic influenza;
-Laboratory diagnosis of influenza in NIC Novi Sad;
-The Results of testing of avian influenza virus presence performed by scientific Veterinary Institute Novi Sad during outbreak 2016/2017;
-Contemporary therapeutic approach to flu;
Participants highlighted the importance of the meeting to strengthening the multi sectorial collaboration, the intersectorial link and communication, the systematic and structured flow of information among different sectors, the timely exchange of data, the multidisciplinary approaches, and the capacity of reference laboratories.
