In the framework of fourth year implementation of the Project Surveillance and Response to Avian and Pandemic by National Health Authorities of Countries of SEE, Supported by CDC, USA, in Montenegro, from 28 April – 26 May 2017 was carried out the supervision of influenza sites in the following health care institutions of the country:
- General Hospitals: Pljevlja, Bijelo Polje, Bar, Kotor, Nikšić, Berane,
- Special Hospital for Pulmonary Diseases and Tuberculosis Brezovik,
- Primary Health Care Centers: Kotor, Bar, Ulcinj, Berane, Bijelo Polje, Danilovgrad and Nikšić
Site visits were realized by the national focal point for the epidemiological surveillance of influenza and an epidemiologist.
These visits pointed out different problems that need to be solved and the progress that influenza surveillance system has made within the year. The previous flu season was much milder than in the previous years and there were fewer complications.
Also, Primary Health Care Centers in Podgorica, Cetinje and Danilovgrad have been visiting continuously once a week in order to strengthen the control of influenza.
During the whole year there were regular contacts with doctors and visits to the organizational unit of Clinical Center of Montenegro.
