From 17th to 19th of May 2017 a study visit on influenza surveillance took place in Germany, in Robert Koch Institute, Berlin. Serbia was a participatory country involved in this study visit. The aim of the visit was to overview and increase the knowledge on the organization and implementation of Influenza Surveillance, i.e. data management regarding Influenza surveillance systems.
The issues discussed included: the role and activities of RKI regarding influenza surveillance routine and sentinel, the legislation and regulations, process of coordination among different ministries and organizations on the state level, the coordination of strategies and methodologies.
There were discussions and exchange of experiences about implementation, organization, coordination, role of sentinel doctors, health facilities and hospitals and their collaboration with public health structures, communication and feedback of influenza data among different partners.
The activity was organized in the framework of the Project “Surveillance and Response to Avian and Pandemic Influenza” funded by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
