14-15.07.2016

On the 14th and 15th of July 2016, in the framework of the projectSurveillance and Response to Avian and Pandemic Influenza”, Grant No. 5U51IP000841-03, funded by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), a Subnational meeting was held in Bulgaria between public health physicians and veterinary experts involved in the sentinel hospital based surveillance system on Flu

Due to the tense epizootic situation relating to the spread of nodular dermatitis (Lumpy skin disease) among animals in the country, the management of Bulgarian Food Safety Agency suggested one national instead of two separate sub-regional meetings to be held, as it would gather in one place representatives from the whole country of both systems - human health and veterinary medicine. This was mutually agreed and the event was held in two-days format.

The meeting was attended by representatives of: Bulgarian Food Safety Agency; Ministry of Health; National Center of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases; Bulgarian Society for Innovative Medicine NGO; Representatives from the whole Public Health and Veterinarian network.

During the meeting the participants were acquainted with the current situation of communicable diseases in humans and animals global and local coverage.
