The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Association of Public Health Laboratories (APHL) in collaboration with the Southeast European Center for Surveillance and Control of Infectious Diseases (SECID) has organized a One year milestone Quality Assurance (QA) Mentoring Program Meeting and Biosafety Course for Southeast European influenza laboratories. The meeting and course was held on May 9-13, 2016 in Zagreb, Croatia.
The purpose of the QA Mentor meeting was to follow-up on progress made over the past year on QA project plans and to develop ideas for sustainability and future project plans. During the meeting, each country presented their quality assurance improvement progress and future action plans and had time to work with their assigned mentor.
The biosafety course presented best practices and information to assist in the development of biosafety programs within influenza laboratories. Participants reviewed and discussed laboratory biosafety and biosecurity practices through didactic lectures and hands-on exercises and demonstrations within a laboratory.
