The South East European Centre for Surveillance and Control of Infectious Diseases (SECID) with the support of Connecting Organizations for Regional Disease Surveillance (CORDS) organized SECID Stakeholder Meeting on 2-3 March 2016 in Tirana, Albania. The goal of this activity was to discuss the SECID strategy and SEE countries priorities related to Infectious Diseases Surveillance and Control as well as the current activities and ensure stakeholder’s advice to improve the strategy, identify potential funders and develop a plan of action for the next period of time.
Meeting objectives were:
- Review network and countries priorities in the field of Infectious Diseases Surveillance and Control; - Review the SECID strategic mission and goals;
- Review SECID strategy and its role and its communication package to improve Infectious Diseases Surveillance and Control in SEE countries in partnership with relevant government institutions, universities and other partners and international organizations and donors;
- Establish relevant working groups according to priorities and the role of each of them; - Identify key interventions and relevant stakeholders and partners.
- Develop a plan of actions for improving infectious disease surveillance and control and discuss its cost and potential funders.
Participants were from National Public Health Institutes in SEE Region, Ministries of Health and Agriculture, Veterinary Institutes, Universities and other organizations such as WHO, CDC, ECDC and SEEHN
