CDC Site Visit to Albania, 26th April - 3rd May, 2014

The CDC Site Visit to Albania took place from 26th April to 3rd May 2014. The visit included Influenza Surveillance Review (conducted by Stacey Spivey-Blackford (CDC) and Carina Blackmore (CSTE)) and Influenza Laboratory Capacity Review (conducted by Richard Alexander and Amy Woron (APHL))

The purpose of the visit was to assist with the systematic, standardized review of influenza sentinel site surveillance system and to help identify problems and design solutions.

Specific objectives included:

Ongoing visits to sentinel sites of the country

Visit to sentinel site - Kukes

A visit to sentinel site in Kukes took place on 16th April 2014 in the framework of “Surveillance and Response to Avian and Pandemic Influenza by National Health Authorities of Countries of South East Europe” Project.

During the visit, epidemiologists of IPH have supervised the registers in order to verify suspected cases of flu influenza or other respiratory viruses. 

Greece Influenza Data Management and Epidemiological Analysis Course Annual Meeting of SEE Countries

During the Annual Meeting of SEE Countries, 7-8 April 2014, Athens, Greece

The US Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists in partnership with the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention organized a Data Management Training Course for influenza surveillance data managers/epidemiologists in the European Region. 

The course, held on April 7-11, 2014 in Athens, Greece, was designed to help data managers establish, maintain, and improve influenza surveillance systems by teaching Influenza data managers and staff on various data management & analysis topics.
