The South East European Centre for Surveillance and Control of Infectious Diseases (SECID-SEEHN), has organized a Meeting with Countries of South East Europe (SEE) on 20-21st November 2014, in Tirana, Albania. WHO EURO also participated in the meeting.
Within the framework (of the second year) of the Project “Surveillance and Response to Avian and pandemic Influenza by National Health Authorities of Countries of South East Europe” in Romania, on 23-24 October 2014 took place a National workshop with epidemiologists, family doctors and clinicians involved in ARI, ILI and SARI surveillance.
This workshop was organized by The National Institute of Public Health (INSP), Romania - The National Centre for Communicable Diseases Surveillance and Control, in collaboration with INCDMI Cantacuzino.
The Workshop for Bosnia and Herzegovina on Surveillance and Response to Avian and Pandemic Influenza within the CDC Project was held on 20-22 August 2014.
In total 23 participants from FBiH and RS were present in the workshop, including RS and BiH coordinators and Dr. Dragana Dimitrijević, Influenza coordinator for Serbia, as guest speaker.
The first day, Prof.Semra Čavaljuga, BiH Project Coordinator and Mr. Sci. Dr. Nina Rodić-Vukmir, RS Project Coordinator made introductory remarks and the overview of the Workshop.
This workshop welcomed national influenza surveillance personnel, national immunization programme managers and chairs and secretaries of national immunization technical advisory groups from: Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Republic of Moldova, Romania, Russian Federation and Ukraine.
Within the framework of the Project “Surveillance and Response to Avian and pandemic Influenza by National Health Authorities of Countries of South East Europe”, influenza sentinel sites visits were carried out in Republic of Macedonia.
In the period from 20 June to 24 July 2014, different health care institutions in Macedonia were visited, such as:
The Institute of Public Health of Serbia ’’D. Milan Jovanovic Batut’’ organized on 3 June 2014 the Annual Influenza Meeting of Vet and IPH with coordinators and deputy coordinators for influenza, veterinarians and infectiologists. In the meeting it was discussed influenza surveillance in humans and animals, as well as it was pointed out the multi sectorial collaboration in terms of assessment of influenza activity.
During July 2014 a couple of SARI sites visits have been conducted in Croatia:
- on 10th July at Clinical Hospital Centre in Rjeka and
- on 21st July at University Hospital of Infectious Diseases of Zagreb.
On 10th July 2014 in Zagreb, Croatia, at the Croatian National Institute of Public Health (CNIPH), took place the Annual Influenza Meeting. The activity was organized within the framework of implementation of the “Surveillance and Response to Avian and pandemic Influenza by National Health Authorities of Countries of South East Europe” Project.

Within the framework of the Project “Surveillance and Response to Avian and pandemic Influenza by National Health Authorities of Countries of South East Europe”, on 03.07.2014 at the Federal Institute for Public Health was held the workshop with participation of health care professionals from the Primary health care center Novi Grad, designated for sentinel surveillance ILI in the Federation, BiH.
The workshop was attended by 21 participants from services for paediatrics, school and family medicine. The topics included:
On the 30.06.2014 at the Federal Institute for Public Health in Sarajevo, BiH was held ILI/SARI workshop. It was attended by representatives of the Federal Institute for Public Health, three clinical centers in Sarajevo, Tuzla and Mostar, and the Cantonal public health institutes from Tuzla, Sarajevo and Mostar (19 total).
