According to the working plan of the second year implementation of the Project “Surveillance and Response to Avian and pandemic Influenza by National Health Authorities of Countries of South East Europe”, on 17th of June 2015 in National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo* took place a meeting aiming at establishing of working group of VET and PH for surveillance and response.
On the 23rd of June 2015, Dr Nina Rodic Vukmir, Influenza Manager for the Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized a visit to the ILI sentinel site and had a constructive meeting with the team of the Hygiene-Epidemiological Service (HES) Dom zdravlja Banja Luka.
On 29 - 30 April 2015 the internal training was organized in the premises of the Institute of Public Health (IPH) of R. Macedonia. Director of the Institute, director of the center for reference laboratories, staff from the laboratory for virology and molecular diagnostics, staff from the laboratory receipt of biological materials, the preparation of substrates and disposal of infectious waste sector for prevention and control of communicable diseases, microbiologists from the center for reference laboratories were invited to take part in the training.
On 15 April 2015 Institute of Public Health of Serbia ’’Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut’’ organized workshop “Improving influenza surveillance” due to improving and strengthening of surveillance of influenza. This activity has been organized in the framework of the second year implementation of the Project “Surveillance and Response to Avian and pandemic Influenza by National Health Authorities of Countries of South East Europe”.
SECID team took part in Organizations for Regional Disease Surveillance (CORDS) Networks Conference held on 2-3 June 2015 at the Rogner Hotel, Tirana, Albania.The two days meeting was attended by the networks representatives being part of CORDS as well as by donors (Bill & Gates Foundation, Skoll Foundation).This important networks conference aimed the networks meet together to develop ideas for future programmes to meet their needs and expectations.
The mentorship program for laboratory quality assurance in countries of South East Europe was launched by Association of Public Health Laboratories (ALPH) supported by CDC, Atlanta, USA and in collaboration with SECID in a meeting held in Tirana on 7-8 May 2015.
This workshop took place in Podgorica and it was organized in the framework of the second year implementation of the Project “Surveillance and Response to Avian and pandemic Influenza by National Health Authorities of Countries of South East Europe”.
On 23 & 25 April 2015 in Bansko, Bulgaria took place One Health Cross Border Workshop on Zoonoses. This workshop was organised with the strong support of CORDS and the kind contribution of Rockefeller Foundation.The Workshop in Bulgaria was the second one of series of three One Health Workshops planned and organized by SECID to be developed in SEE countries: the first one took place in Prizren, Kosovo* and the third one will take place in Croatia.
On 02nd of April 2015 at the Public Health Institute of the Republic of Srpska, in Banja Luka, BiH, was organized the workshop on influenza surveillance – past, present, future. (click here to download the report)
A training with epidemiologists of Sentinel Centres is organized at the Institute of Public Health of Albania on 27 March 2015. It aimed to present the Influenza Web platform and how to manage the data of the web based Influenza Information System. 30 participants (epidemiologists, virologists) from IPH, the Infectious Hospital of Tirana, Tirana Lung Disease Hospital and from regional health centers of the country attended the workshop. 3 lecturers presented presentations related to the Influenza Surveillance and web based flu platform.
